A scenic byway consists of an area on both sides of a public road, street, or highway that has been officially recognized as a unique area worth preserving due to outstanding resources. The A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway is a 72-mile route on State Road A1A from Ponte Vedra Beach south through Vilano Beach, St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach, Crescent Beach, Marineland, The Hammock, Beverly Beach, and Flagler Beach, terminating at the southern Flagler County line.
