A1A 72 Mile Super Scenic Garage Sale
COUNT DOWN - 72 miles! No - the rains will not slow us down! There is a 40% chance in the morning decreasing to 20% by evening. We love Florida weather! Friends of A1A coordinates a 72 mile garage sale from Ponte Vedra Beach to Flagler Beach organizing vendor spots and vendors to sell unique local items. Regional marketing draws visitors from other states to the area to make overnight stays for the event. Last year's event was highly acclaimed and many shoppers wanted extended hours. To that end, the event this year will run from 8 am til 5 pm. Please know some sites may close early - especially if items sell out!! Even our small town business owners have sale items of every variety displayed in front of their shops! Check with our COMMUNITY SITE volunteers for a chance to win super value pack vacation packages and register to get St. Augustine Outlets Savings books! Featured lodging is provided by Hilton Garden Inns in Palm Coast and Ponte Vedra; Casa Monica and Topaz Hotel.  VOLUNTEERS - We will have volunteers at each community site to establish orderly set up of vendors and control traffic. Training on duties is set for November 15th from 12 to 6 pm. What better way to discover and celebrate our nationally proclaimed A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway than to be a buyer or a seller in the longest garage sale in Florida!! Group sites are being organized in Ponte Vedra, South Ponte Vedra, Vilano Beach, Camachee Island, City of St. Augustine, City of St. Augustine Beach, Crescent Beach, Marineland, THE Hammock, Beverly Beach and Flagler Beach. Our goal this year is to have many more stops (at least one per mile for the length of the Byway!) This is an opportunity for those who live in Planned Unit Developments which do not allow residents to have yard sales to set up in one of the many group sites, recycle unwanted goods for cash, and make the event into a social get together with neighbors. The advantage for buyers is to be able to caravan along and easy-to-follow route, create a Friends-Out-Day event, and end with lunch or dinner at any of many wonderful A1A restaurants along the way. The raffle has four vacation packages including hotel, restaurant and entertainment as prizes available online with no need to be present to win. Local businesses can participate providing promotional discount coupons at some sites that include advertising on the Scenic A1A website. Contribution for vendors is $15 to have a site sign to help with overall byway promotions. Participants keep all of their proceeds from their sales. Register now to reserve your spot.
