Welcome to Florida's
A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway

The “Scenic & Historic A1A” is more than a name – it’s a state of being.

The A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway blends three Florida State Scenic Highways into one National Scenic Byway. The A1A Ocean Shore Scenic Highway begins at the Volusia/Flagler county line, traverses Flager Beach and extends north 7.3 miles to the northern city limits of Beverly Beach.  The A1A River and Sea Trail Scenic Highway continues 12 miles northward through the Hammock and Marineland and links to the Scenic and Historic A1A in St. Johns County. The coastal corridor extends from the Volusia/Flagler line to the St. Johns/ Duval county line providing a continuous scenic corridor from county line to county line along A1A.

The Northeast Florida 72-mile segment of historic State Road A1A abounds with
white sandy beaches, ample recreational adventures, and history dating back before the birth of this country.

Be sure to take advantage of the seemingly endless recreational activities. History enthusiasts may witness historical reenactments, tour the lighthouse, or visit the forts, and various other national historic sites listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.

There are opportunities to see, hear, touch, smell, and taste the bounties of nature as you travel along the corridor and visit its varied and exciting parks and preserves.  It is a 72-mile journey that may take only hours to drive, but days to explore.

Experience all Florida has to offer. Catch a festival or check out an
archeological site along the Scenic Byway.
